December 13, (THEWILL) – Getafe are exploring the possibility of signing Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood, on a permanent basis, according to club President Angel Corres.
Greenwood joined the La Liga side on a season-long loan deal in 2023 after missing 16 months of football. The 22-year-old has contributed seven goal involvements in 13 appearances for Getafe so far.
Corres revealed Getafe are in discussions with Manchester United about Greenwood’s future. “We believe a lot [in Greenwood]. We continue to meet with Manchester [United] to see if they are happy. The truth is that they are happy with the treatment, not only from the fans of Getafe but also from the whole of Spain,” he said.
Getafe are keen to keep Greenwood long-term. Corres said it is “too early” to consider buying out the remainder of his United contract, which expires in 2025. Getafe currently have a percentage of Greenwood’s rights.
Greenwood is attracting interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. His United future remains unclear until Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s proposed investment is finalised. A decision will be made once the club’s new football management is appointed.
