September 26, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the new minimum wage to civil servants on its payroll.

Spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.

THEWILL earlier reported that the Federal Government and Organised Labour, on Friday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Consequential Adjustments in Salaries following the approval of the N70,000 national minimum wage by President Bola Tinubu.

“Federal Government civil servants will start getting the new minimum wage from today (Thursday) this September 2024. What I can tell you is that the minimum wage salary payment is today, I am not sure of the arrears,” Mokwa said.
