September 18, (THEWILL) – Everton is determined to keep important players like a widely desired winger, Anthony Gordon, and goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, and this same determination has been extended to Nigerian player, Alex Iwobi.

The midfielder struggled initially after moving to Everton from Arsenal in 2019, but he has recently found his groove and developed, as a result of the more important position he is playing in Frank Lampard’s midfield.

At Goodison Park on Sunday, he provided the assist for Neal Maupay’s goal that helped secure all three points against West Ham, as THEWILL previously reported.

According to the 26-year-old, who has a deal with the club through 2024, this is his “most enjoyable time” there. In the midst of that improvement, Everton has begun negotiations with the Nigerian international about a new contract.

The Goodison Park management is looking to extend their careers, Iwobi, as well as team members like Pickford and Gordon at Merseyside, and preliminary discussions have already taken place in line with that goal. In the coming weeks, those discussions are expected to intensify.
