June 26, (THEWILL) – The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, has undergone surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Ferguson was diagnosed with an early form of the disease after a routine mammogram screening.
The surgery took place at King Edward VII Hospital in London and she was hospitalised for five days but was discharged on Sunday.
After being discharged, she was moved to Windsor, where she has been recuperating.
Ferguson expressed her immense gratitude to all the medical staff, who supported her during her stay at the hospital.
“I am hugely thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram, which identified the illness, which was otherwise symptom-free,” she stated.
