Chelsea Paperwork Mix-Ups Prevent PSG from Securing Ziyech Loan Deal

February 01, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain’s efforts to sign Morocco international Hakim Ziyech on loan in the January window was apparently thwarted by a paperwork mix-up.
The French club had hoped to complete the deal before Tuesday’s deadline, but it collapsed after Chelsea sent the wrong paperwork to PSG on three separate occasions. PSG and Chelsea both appealed to the French footballing authorities for allowance to make the deal happen but their request was denied.
As a result, Ziyech will remain at Stamford Bridge until the summer. Despite interest from several other clubs, including Newcastle United, Everton, and Milan, Ziyech will have to stay put at Chelsea. The Morocco international had been linked with a return to former club Ajax, but even that will now have to wait.
The collapse of the PSG deal is being blamed on Chelsea’s focus on completing a British record deal for Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Chelsea’s efforts to sign Fernandez reportedly took their attention away from the Ziyech transfer, leading to the paperwork mix-up.
With the transfer window now closed, Ziyech will have to wait until the summer to consider his options and hope that further mix-ups will be avoided.
