November 02, (THEWILL) – Cameroonian artiste, Bobo Elastico, has stated that Grammy award-winning Nigerian artiste, Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, is talented, but he gives the impression that he is putting in all the work, however, all he does is to sample songs of other artistes.
He took to his Facebook page to make this known. He added that Burna Boy sampled Tony Braxton’s He wasn’t man enough, on his Last Last hit song.
“Burna Boy is such a talented artiste, but also a cheat. You all might think he is putting in all the hard work, but all he does is to sample songs from other artistes and win questionable Grammy award from organisations that know nothing about about real African music.
“His most recent release, ‘Last Last’ is a sample song from Tony Braxton’s 2000 hit, ‘He wasn’t man enough’. Tomorrow, he’s gonna win another Grammy with a song that is not his original work.
“Tony Braxton is getting 60% royalties, while he is lucky to get 40% as agreed upon.
“Some artiste get 100% for their work. He had a good team to fight for him, but it is still a shame for a top artiste like himself to be doing that despite the noise on social media.
“Lots of Naija people don’t know that. We don’t encourage plagiarism. That takes away from hard working artiste who create original music and put in the sweat.
“We have also seen some popular A-list artiste in Cameroon doing same with no shame. One day na one day monkey go chop pepper. Stop over hyping plagiarised music, we must speak up”, he wrote.
