BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 04, (THEWILL) – The Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, on Friday, dismissed the State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mr Inuwa Bwala, and three senior special assistants from his government.
It was the first major changes to be made by the Shettima Administration since inception.
The sacked officials are believed to be loyalists of the immediate past governor Ali Modu Sherrif, who is contending with Shettima for the control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Bwala, a seasoned journalists, had served Sheriff’s administration before been passed down to Shettima. He is said to be an unrepentant loyalist of Sherrif.
A leter announcing the sack of the commissioner and special assistants was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Administration, Dr. Maryam Bukar Abba Ibrahim, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda.
The letter indicated that the commissioner has been relieved of his position as member of the State Executive Council and that the governor has directed him to handover the affairs of his ministry to the permanent secretary in the ministry.
It further stated that the Special Adviser on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, should take over and oversee the Ministry pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner.
“Similarly, Governor Kashim Shettima has relieved three Senior Special Assistants, Makinta Zarami, Ali Umar and Ali Umar Bolori of their positions.
“Governor Shettima expresses appreciation to the former commissioner and the three Senior Special Assistants for their respective contributions under his administration,” the statement said.
