September 29, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich have received good news regarding Harry Kane’s ankle injury ahead of their UEFA Champions League match against Aston Villa on Wednesday. The club stated on Sunday, that tests on Kane’s ankle showed “a positive development” following his exit from Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 31-year-old left the pitch with four minutes remaining in the match after colliding with Leverkusen’s Amine Adli. The striker, who has experienced ankle problems in the past, was seen holding his lower leg as he departed. Bayern’s medical team will continue to provide “intensive treatment” for Kane’s injury, which the club described as “a painful blow to his ankle”.

Bayern Sporting Director, Max Eberl, expressed concern after Saturday’s match, saying: “When Harry leaves the field it means something because he is pretty tough. It does not look good, but we hope he is made out of good English wood and nothing is broken.” Kane’s fitness is crucial for Bayern, as he has scored 10 goals in seven games across all competitions this season.

The England captain has made a strong start to his Bayern career since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023. His impressive form includes scoring four goals in Bayern’s Champions League opener against Dinamo Zagreb, highlighting his importance to the team’s success in both domestic and European competitions.

Bayern will be eager to have Kane available for their midweek clash with Villa, as they aim to maintain their strong start in the Champions League. The club will likely provide further updates on Kane’s condition in the coming days as they assess his readiness for the important fixture.
